Losing My Damn Mind

So Valerie Bowman apparently shares my birthday! This is super exciting for me, as I’ve never met anyone who shares my birthday before. [Although I have two twitter friends who have parents that share my birthday…] But I guess I’ve never met Valerie, so the same holds. A tiny part of me is all *sniffles* because June 28th isn’t all “mine” anymore. No biggie though. [No really. I’m just being silly. Also, why do I feel like I have to keep explaining myself? Because there are crazies out there. Crazies who like to find me.]

My point is, Ms. Bowman found me on twitter and she was all “hey that’s my birthday too!” and it’s kind of awesome because RWA 2011 “started” on June 28th and she sold her first book then and that’s pretty cool. She’ll be visiting with us next year as well, so keep an eye out. ;D

More importantly, she offered up an ARC of her book for the Birthday Bash but you all know how that went for me. Or, life recently (hint: badly) so I dropped the ball. I’m not quite sure why she didn’t simply offer me the ARC … but you know. *schniffs* everyone loves you all more than me! Fitting, I guess, since I’m constantly telling all of you – and everyone else – how you’re all much nicer than I am. And possibly too nice for me…

So now I’ve convinced myself. No presents for me, all presents for you. I meant to include this in my “winners” announcement post … but I kind of lost my mind over there. Fifty-four winners drawn! And checking, and trying to see who wanted what, and I lost a few brain cells trying to do that. (And then gave up. You know how I am. :D)

Someone who comments here and tells me something nice/fun/interesting will win an e-ARC of Secrets of a Wedding Night. Or you know, if you want me to win it, all of you could just not comment, which I will take as a sign. ;D [Kidding. We all know I can’t win anything here. T_T]

I’m also now confusing myself. Whatever. Ready? Set? Contest GO!

Oh and since I like you all so much and I am so nice – here is the book blurb!

HOW TO STOP A WEDDING

Young, widowed, and penniless, Lily Andrews, the Countess of Merrill, has strong opinions on marriage. When she spots a certain engagement announcement in The Times, she decides to take action. She will not allow another hapless girlto fall prey to a man—particularly the scoundrel who broke her heart five years ago. Anonymously she writes and distributes a pamphlet entitled “Secrets of a Wedding Night,” knowing it will find its way into his intended’s innocent hands…

HOW TO SEDUCE A WIDOW

Devon Morgan, the Marquis of Colton, desires a good wife and mother to his son—someone completely unlike Lily Andrews, the heartless beauty who led him on a merry chase five years ago only to reject him. When Devon’s new fiancée cries off after reading a certain scandalous pamphlet, he vows to track down the author and make her pay. But when he learns it’s his former fiancée Lily, he issues a challenge: write a retractionor prepare to be seduced—to find out how wonderful a wedding night can be…

*NB – this is an electronic ARC.

hI Limecello, Sorry your life has been so hectic. Secrets of a Wedding Night sounds like it will be a great story, reminds me of another book I read last winter that had something along the same line with a story in newspaper but cant remember the book at this time. My wedding day went as all others (22 yrs ago last month), the ac went out in the reception hall and it was a record 92 degrees in Boston that day, I was wearing a long sleeve full length gown and by the end of the day I felt the comings on of heat stroke, became quite ill and ended up calling my brother from the hotel in the middle of the night to bring me medicine as my husband wasn’t in any better shape. The next day flew to Florida to catch a cruise to the carribean.
Congrats on finding someone with same birthday. I have only met one in my life that matched mine and met him in college. (May 2)
Take care of yourself and give yourself a break.

🙂 Happy late birthday. We all loved your birthday bash! 😀

Something funny to share…I guess I’ll have to go with a joke!

A pair of chickens walk up to the circulation desk at a library and say, “Buk Buk BUK.” The librarian decides that the chickens desired three books, and gives it to them…and the chickens leave shortly thereafter.
Around midday, the two chickens return to the circulation desk quite vexed and say, “Buk Buk BuKKOOK!” The librarian decides that the chickens desire another three books and gives it to them. The chickens leave as before.
The two chickens return to the library in the early afternoon, approach the librarian, looking very annoyed and say, “Buk Buk Buk Buk Bukkooook!” The librarian is now a little suspicious of these chickens. She gives them what they request, and decides to follow them.
She followed them out of the library, out of the town, and to a park. At this point, she hid behind a tree, not wanting to be seen. She saw the two chickens throwing the books at a frog in a pond, to which the frog was saying, “Rrredit Rrredit Rrredit…”

Stupid librarian humor but it gets the job done!

I would love to win it, but it would be a long shot. However, I will tell you something interesting or to me. This past weekend I got to Yellowstone for the first time, which was pretty cool. It will be the most memorable camping trips of my life.

    Limecello –

I’ll have to try to try to find out more about Valerie and her debut book Secrets of a Wedding Night because it sounds like it will be a lot of fun to read! I don’t twitter or tweet (I’m still trying to get used to a computer instead of a manual typewritter – my sons are tech savy but for some reason I didn’t inherit that gene). I just hope that Valerie’s birthday went better then yours!

Whenever friends talk about their weddings and wedding night (never in enough detail as far as I’m concerned) for some reason they always pause expecting me to “share” what a great time it was!

You could say my husband and I had a few “hitches” go on. First our photographer got sick and sent a “replacement” who didn’t show up until the end of the ceremony. That meant he missed getting a picture of my husband fainting in the middle of the ceremony! Thankfully (or not) it was becasue he had the flu and not cold feet! He had to take all the pictures of the reception before it started because he had another gig to make it to so all the pictures of us cutting and eating the first piece of cake were actually taken before all the guests arrived!

Finally now over 42 years later we can get out our (very small) photo album (most out of focus) of our wedding and laugh! My husband kids me and say he should have realized then it was just a forecast of what our marriage would turn out to be – lots of fun amid all the chaos!

So sorry your life has been so hectic….I can definitely sympathize with you. The last 2 months have been crazy for me too. Something that was unique to me, when I was growing up, there were 3 of us (all girls) in the same class that had the same birthday, and was even born at the same hospital! I always thought that this was a rare occurrance.

Since we ‘re on the subject of bdays – my mum;s bday is on 29th Feb. Poor mum only gets a bday once every 4 years. Of course we tease her about how young she is! & make a big deal every 4 years when she does have a “real” bday even tho we celebrate the other 3 yrs too but on the 28th. This year was a bit special cos not only did she celebrate her 18th bday but coincidentally my niece also turns 18 this year. Lots more teasing all around on being the same age as her granddaughter!

My grandson’s birthday was June 28th, so you both share a birthday together. He turned 15. 🙂 I can’t believe where the years have gone to.

My birthday is July 21st, which is fast approaching. My husband keeps asking me what I want for my birthday, but so far, I can’t think of anything.

Thank you for another opportunity to win. You rock!!!

Hi Limecello! So sorry that everything has been so hectic for you and that you didn’t win anything for your birthday bash. Wow! Fifty-four winners for the month of June. Kind of makes your head spin, doesn’t it?

My birthday is June 5th. I have only met one person and heard of none that have the same birthday.

Lets see about something fun. I used to belong to a Bunko group that decided to fold last December. It is now a supper club. We had a dinner out last Monday at a pizza place and it was lots of fun. August is my month to plan a dinner. Am looking forward to it. Something else that is fun is reading your blogs.

Secrets of A Wedding Night sounds delicious. Another book I have to read.

Aww, Lime, goes without saying that you shall have a SECRETS OF A WEDDING NIGHT ARC for your (belated) birthday. 🙂 And if you’re really like me, you accept presents all summer long so this will be perfectly in keeping. And yay for June 28th! Do you know we share a birthday with Henry VIII? Still not quite sure what that says about us.

      >.> Hopefully it’s that we only get all the good stuff and not that whole… positively corpulent, syphilis insanity etc… :X
I could go with the whole royal rockstar persona though. ;D Especially if there’s a Henry Cavill like-Charles Brandon around…
