Vampire ABCs ~ A is for Angsty Angel

As it’s October and one of my favorite holidays is coming up (plus my recent series is about vampires, LOL) I came up with an idea for the ABCs of vampiness

Today, I’d like to talk about A – Angel from Buffy the Vampire slayer.

Now, my first vampire love, I’ll admit, was Dracula from Bram Stoker’s story. But (and this may date me) I was a teenager when Buffy came out. I still remember falling in love with her, a kick-butt chick who fought the monsters of the world.

Then came Angel. Sexy. Dark. Mysterious. Tortured.

*drool*

I mean, he was the epitome of the perfect crush. The bad boy trying so hard to be good. The vampire with a soul, and now able to love. (of course, we know that didn’t turn out well, but still).

It was my first taste of a vampire being good. Of helping mortals fight against the dark. And did I mention he’s sexy?

Erm, where was I? Oh, yeah. So fast forward a bit, and the explosion of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I still can’t get enough of these books. So, I figure it’s pretty natural I write them.

And if you like to read them (shameless plug) you can try Bloodstorm (Heart of a Vampire, Book 1) for Free! Yup. It’s currently free at all major e-tailers. Find your preferred format link here.

My Q4U: Who was your (fictional) childhood crush? Was he a bad boy, or good?

And as a thanks so much for having me over, I’d love to do a giveaway. I’ll choose one commenter to win a $5 Amazon gift card (international) so make sure you leave your contact info : ) Winner will be drawn next week.

When duty forces a shaman to stop a vampire from her revenge, love doesn’t just burn… it bites.

For two hundred years, Niki DeVeraux has been tracking the monster who murdered her family and made her a vampire. She finally catches up to him only to face more than she bargained for in a too-sexy sheriff who makes her remember she’s still a woman. With duties as Keeper of the peace and Sheriff, Shane Spencer must protect humanity and stop the friction between the local Arcaine races before it turns into an all out blood war.

When wolves start turning up dead, the tension between the races grows and suspicion falls on Niki. Shane knows she’s not to blame, and it has nothing to do with the primal urges she stirs within him. Working together, they must stop the hostilities from going over the edge. Trouble is, the desires raging between them might prove more dangerous than the surrounding threats.

Bio: One of those rare breeds, Amber Kallyn is an Arizona native who can trace her family’s history through six generations in the state. She lives with her husband, and their four very active children. Included in the menagerie are four cats (though there’s always room for more), one snake, and two dogs. We won’t count all the fish.

Amber loves the paranormal, from dragons to werewolves to vampires. She’s currently at work on her next book, probably running around the house acting out a fight scene with her collection of swords and daggers. Or maybe, wishing she had claws to practice the other fight scenes.

In case you missed it – this is Amber’s question again:
Who was your (fictional) childhood crush? Was he a bad boy, or good?

Great post! My fav bad boy would be Dylan from 90210…hip hair, careless attitude, and a motorcycle. Sign me up for the bad boys! So fun and so yummy. I also liked Angel, but Spike was my fav.

Thank you for visiting with us, Amber!
My favorite bad boy crush from a book would be Nick in the Secret Circle. I always liked him better than Adam. Nick was so soulful and the bad boy, with the secret soft side.

Hi Amber! Welcome to ALBTALBS!!! Sorry about the craziness – I only just realized comments weren’t working, so asked people to give it a try. :X

I went and got your freebie book though, and am really excited to read it. And I liked Angel and Spike. 😉 Although not Spike when he was evil… Guess I like more of the good guys. Or, bad guys with a good side.

      Hey Limecello,
Thanks so much for having me over today. I tried commenting this morning, I guess that explains it.
No worries about the comments 🙂 I was laughing at them.
Thanks for picking up the book, hope you enjoy. I’m definitely up for a bad boy with a good side.

Great post and nice to meet you Amber. My crush was Wesley Crusher. *blush* Then the various heroes of the bodice rippers I was reading at the time. LOL What can I say? I started young. Actually, I fell for one of Maggie Shayne’s vampires from her Wings in the Night series. He was so staid and when he realized he screwed up by being that way, he made it up to the heroine. Big time.

    =)
