Review: About That Kiss by Jill Shalvis

About That Kiss by Jill Shalvis
Contemporary romance released by Avon on January 23, 2018

About That Kiss coverWhen love drives you crazy . . .
When sexy Joe Malone never calls after their explosive kiss, Kylie shoves him out of her mind. Until she needs a favor, and it’s a doozy. Something precious to her has been stolen and there’s only one person with unique finder-and-fixer skills that can help—Joe. It means swallowing her pride and somehow trying to avoid the temptation to throttle him—or seduce him.

the best thing to do . . .
No, Joe didn’t call after the kiss. He’s the fun time guy, not the forever guy. And Kylie, after all she’s been through, deserves a good man who will stay. But everything about Kylie makes it damned hard to focus, and though his brain knows what he has to do, his heart isn’t getting the memo.

… is enjoy the ride.
As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.

So, I went into this blind – I’d heard of Jill Shalvis, but I’d never read any of her books before, and while overall it was a good read I was left rather wanting.

I was really pleased that Kylie worked with wood, and initially seemed to walk her own path. As the granddaughter of a master woodworker herself I liked that she carried on the family traditions, and had a cavalier attitude to her appearance . She’d been crushing on Gib for a long time, and he while they were friends and co -workers (actually he’s her boss) he didn’t appear to take an interest until she shared a kiss with Joe.  Kylie vacillated a bit, she had huge chemistry with Joe, but an emotional attachment to Gib, and Joe, while very attractive was quite clear that he wasn’t about a relationship.  I got a little frustrated with her at times, and I did want her to be more in charge at the beginning, but by the midpoint of the book I really liked Kylie. Review: One Snowy Night by Jill Shalvis

Mary’s Review of
One Snowy NightOne Snowy Night (Heartbreaker Bay series) by Jill Shalvis
Contemporary Romance released by Avon Impulse on November 8, 2016

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

I love a road trip romance. There’s something about two characters with loads of unresolved issues being trapped in a car together for miles and miles. With the holiday angle added in and a goofy, lovable dog…well, I just couldn’t resist picking this book up. Continue reading

Jill Shalvis Blog Tour

Hi everyone! So Jill Shalvis and her publisher assigned a blog tour, and today’s my day/stop! I asked Jill three questions, and here they are! It’s just a little random something so all of you can peek into Jill’s mind and learn about her newest book.

1. What can we look forward to after these books? (What are you working now?)
Three more Lucky Harbor books for next summer in June, July and August.  At Last, Lucky In Love, and Forever And A Day!

2. What, in your opinion is the best kind of cookie? What about chips? (I remember you said you’d pick chips over cookies if you could only have one…)
Best cookie … oh boy.  I can’t pick just one!  But quite possibly Mother’s Double Fudge … or Chips Ahoy chocolate chip… As for chips, salt and vinegar, hands down.

3. What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever learned researching for a book?
I learn something for every book, mostly that I know a lot less than I think I do.  😛

There will be a three copies given away to random winners who comment on the tour. So have you read anything by Jill Shalvis before? She will be an official guest here – so what questions would you like to ask her?

If you care to follow the tour all the way through… The other stops with the giveaway chances are at these places on these days: Dec 3, Dec 4: here, here, here, here, Dec 5:  here, here, here, Dec 6: here, here, here, Dec 7: here, here, Dec 8: here, here, here, here, Dec 9: here, here, here, Dec 10: here, here, here, and here!
