Teaser Tuesday: Wild Desire by Lori Brighton

Today we have the gorgeous Lori Brighton sharing an exclusive excerpt with us! Wild Desire has been out for a few months now, so you might have read it, but if not, here’s a chance for a special never before posted peek! And she also is sharing the blurb of her upcoming book, To Seduce an Earl.

First He Drove Her Mad
In what feels like a moment, Beatrice Edmund goes from being a proper lady cooped up in a stuffy Scottish castle to traveling miles from anything she’s ever known, in the midst of the wildest adventure of her life. And at the center of that adventure is the most infuriating, puzzling scoundrel on earth. She cannot take her eyes off him.
Then He Drove Her Wild

Colin Fitch cannot deny he’s drawn to Beatrice–but lust is all he could possibly feel for the sharp-tongued minx. Still, if there’s a chance she can help him stop the madman he pursues, he must withstand her obvious disapproval. Yet withstanding the longing he feels for her is growing more troublesome by the second. . . And Colin has never been terribly good at staying out of trouble. . .

Softly, his lips pressed to hers, his teeth nipping the sensitive skin over and over as she’d done with the fruit. Finally, Bea could take no more. Boldly she slipped her tongue into his mouth. He seemed surprised by her move. But just as quickly, Colin took control. With a low growl, his tongue met hers thrust for thrust.

Bea knew she was getting in deep, murky waters but she couldn’t seem to care. Colin’s hand slipped from her hair to her collar. Before she could even realize his intentions, he’d opened three of her buttons. Part of her mind screamed for him to stop him. She silenced that part, pushed it to the furthest recesses of her mind.

Her shirt gaped enough for him to slip his warm hand inside. His palm cupped her left breast. Bea’s nipples instantly hardened, growing heavy with his touch. She wanted him, all of him, so much so that she’d sell her very soul. He tore his mouth from hers and lowered his head, pressing his lips to her neck. Lower. His mouth rested in the valley between her breasts.

Bea sighed, tilting her head back. Overhead, stars twinkled in the darkening sky, diamonds on dark velvet. The night was magical, Colin was magical. The things he was doing to her, the way she felt, was magical.

“Lovely,” she thought she heard him whisper.

She wasn’t sure. It didn’t matter if he’d said the word or not, for she felt lovely under his attention. The way he looked at her, the way he touched her, she’d never felt so attractive, never felt so heady with power.

Suddenly, Colin stiffened and pulled away. She felt his absence like the winter in Scotland, cold and piercing.

“What—”

He pressed his finger to her lips. “Shhh.”

His gaze narrowed, his breath coming out in short, sharp pants.

The fine hairs on Bea’s neck stood on end. “Colin?” she whispered.

He shook his head, his gaze scanning the scrub beyond the light of their fire. She froze, her heart slamming against her chest as she waited for an explanation. Then she heard it…the snap of a branch.

Bea sucked in a breath, her skin crawling. Colin surged to his feet while Bea fumbled with the buttons on her shirt.

“Show yourself,” Colin demanded, his voice hard and sure, so sure that for one blessed moment Bea thought they had nothing to worry about. Perhaps Raj had found them?

“Damn,” Colin whispered just loud enough for her to hear.

Fear spurred her into action. Bea jumped to her feet and peeked around his shoulder.

Five men stood before them, wearing only trousers, their thin, tanned chests bare. But the state of their undress didn’t attract Bea’s attention. No, the rifles did.

That’s not all! Read the blurb of my newest release, To Seduce an Earl!

On the outskirts of London in a meadow of lavender, sits a house of esteemed ill repute. But this is no house geared toward pleasing men. No, this house is for women who have come to seek their own delight. And for three young ladies it’s where they’ll find something completely unexpected…true love.

Grace Brisbane will do whatever it takes to save her dying mother, but with a stepbrother intent on gambling and drinking, their funds have run dry. What’s a girl to do when she’s left poor and destitute? Seduce an Earl, of course. Handsome and rich, the Earl of Rodrick is the perfect target. Unfortunately, Rodrick despises innocent virgins. There’s only one place where Grace can learn the secrets of seduction… Lavender Hills. The moment Grace spots Alex, the man who will teach her the ways of intimacy, she knows she must guard her heart. Alex is charming and gorgeous and completely inappropriate.

As a young man, Alex Weston is blackmailed into working at Lavender Hills in order to save his family from London ’s prisons. There could be worse ways to spend his days and nights. Still, seduction has become a chore and thoughts of freedom keep him up at night. Until he receives a new client, the sweet Grace Brisbane. He should be thinking only of his growing need to escape, instead he’s captivated by the lovely Grace. The more time they spend together, the more he realizes that their brief meetings aren’t enough. For while marriage between a lady and a whore could never happen, Alex knows in his heart that he is willing to accept nothing less.

Lori has very generously offered prizes to some lucky commenters as well! Two winner will win two books each! I’m jealous! Each winner will receive a print copy of Wild Desire, as well as an e-copy of To Seduce an Earl. (As it’s only available electronically.) And of course, there are prizes being offered as part of the charity post too, which is the sticky post – so remember to check that out if you haven’t yet.

So what do you think? Any comments, or questions for Lori?

I love this kind of book, but I’m not eEnabled yet. Is ‘To Seduce an Earl’ going to be in print format some time in the future?

Wild Desire sounds like a good historical romp! But, I am really intrigued by To Seduce An Earl. What a great concept. I love the fact that the man is the whore. I am sure there is a twist so now I must read it to find out. What made you decide to switch the traditional roles? Thanks for the giveaway. My fingers are crossed and the books are added to my wishlist (is case I don’t win).

Wild Desire sounds fantastic…The blurb is a great teaser…now I have to find out what those 5 men want and how will Colin protect Bea!!!

Lori, you are a “new” author to me. I haven’t read historical books in such a long time (however, that was how I got started reading romances back in the 80’s). But after reading your blurbs…I just have to start back with them and these two books are just what I need to get back into the swing of things.

To Seduce and Earl is such a twist on things…with the man being blackmailed and having to please the ladies. I am so intrigued as to how things will work out for Grace and Alex. Their story sounds like such a great read…definitely on my “to buy” list.

I see that you wrote a contemporary paranormal book (another genre that I love). Is it hard to switch between historicals and contemporaries? Do you think you might write a historical paranormal at some time?

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by.

Wild Heart, Wild Desire and the first book in another series (A Night of Secrets) are all historical paranormals. In fact, To Seduce an Earl is the first full length historical I’ve written without paranormal.

There is a lot of research for any book, but more for historicals. Since I write mostly in the Victorian era, I’ve gotten to know it pretty well now, so the research is coming easier.

Yes, I write Contemporary, historical and actually Young Adult as well. So a little of everything 🙂 It is hard to switch tones sometimes. But it’s also a nice break to switch genres.

At this point, To Seduce an Earl will not be in print. It’s actually self published so only as an Ebook. You can download Ebooks from Amazon and B&N to your computer, but of course its sort of annoying to have to sit at your computer to read a full length book.

I’ve read Wild Desire, so no need to enter me in that drawing. To Seduce an Earl sounds great, Lori. I love the premise of it. I’m going to have to go to your website to see what else you’ve got coming out.

    Congratulations on the new release!

I can’t wait to see what happens to Bea, and I absolutely LOVE the premise for To Seduce an Earl! I’ve only read a few romances, where it is the man who is the “whore” so to speak, but I have loved each and every one of them especially the two that immediately came to mind by Robin Schone. I am so looking forward to the new series and am off to add them to my wishlist.
