Good Intentions Pave the Road…

To hell and all that, yes? I had all these lofty ideas of writing reviews and also posts for H&H. I don’t think Megan reads this though, so at least I’m safe on the latter.

I can, however, tell you all about a book exchange/Secret Santa opportunity! I received the following email from Pat L. (I just copied and pasted it… hope you’re okay with that, Pat!)

If you are interested in participating, send me your wish list with your name, email and mailing addy at to: [email protected] by Oct. 31. Wish lists and recipient info will be sent out by me around Nov. 2. Each person gets one recipient.

Include at least 15 titles with authors as well as types or authors you may want to try.

You may also include any genres or authors you do not like.

If you wish, include any other little things you like – candy, pens, notepaper, holiday items, whatever.

Pls limit your hd covers, mass mkt, new releases (books published after Nov. 20 or so) or hd to find books to only a few as I want it to be easy for your Santa to find books for you.

LMK when you rec your books as well as when you send yours out so I know that everyone has recd their pkgs. Pls mail the books by Dec. 10 so your recipient will get the pkg in time for Christmas. I am suggesting you send out at least 4 books, may be used or new. Most of you usually send more, but it is completely up to you.

If any of you have a good sites to find used or new books, lmk and I will pass it along to the participants. (besides
paperbackswap.com and thriftbooks.com which I like very much.) Thriftbooks – there is no shipping and most books are $3.95. Discountbooks.com I have not used myself but they have a few sites within that site that has used bks.

As a thank you from me for participating, I will be doing a little drawing after everyone has recd their packages and send out 2 books from your wish list if possible that you did not recieve.

Any questions, please email me.

Let’s have a fun time.

Pat

So there you go. Note – if you want in, email Pat, not me. I’m sadly not into print books these days, but I figured some of you might be interested.

And remember the super hot excerpt Ms. Alisha Rai shared with us? The winner via randomizer.org is The Obscured Vixen please email me (using the form) by Tuesday, October 4 to claim your e-copy of Hot as Hades. For everyone else… well you really should buy a copy.

Today, my BuckSadeyes lost again… but at least it wasn’t a shut out. It was a home game, and the last time we were shut out apparently was 1982. That… would have been tough for me to take. I’ve never had to deal with it. Since I’m all sad and stuff though, why not have a giveaway?

So… tell me something nice. Or random. Do you watch football? College or pro? Why or why not? Really just say something sweet or with substance and I’ll give away an ebook or two. Or more. I don’t know. But at least one!

LOL, I often have good intentions too 🙂 I’ve given up on H&H even though I found the posts interesting it was just too too much to try and keep up with. If I didn’t follow any other blogs then I would continue to read it, but I’m not willing to give up others I read for that one.

Good news….um….Notre Dame hasn’t managed to screw up their lead…yet 🙂 And the sun was shining today after like 6 days of rain. I was beginning to think I needed to get a big Ark so save me and my books 🙂

Hopefully things will look up for you next week?

      Hi Carrie,

Oh, I didn’t follow the Purdue vs ND game. I’ll have to check scores in a bit. I… am overwhelmed by all blogs, frankly. My own even! Ugh – wasn’t all the rain this past week awful? And it’s raining today as well.
Thanks for the good week wishes. As long as nobody dies it’ll sadly be better than this past one. Or the one before. 🙁 But – no whining!

Thanks for posting the Secret Santa. I really appreciate.

I am into baseball so have been watching the playoffs even tho’ my Dodgers did not make them this year. But am so happy with their young pitcher, Clayton Kershaw who should get the Cy Young Award as he leads in just about all the pitching categories. And Also to Matt Kemp who may get the MVP award as he is tied for first in hrs and leads in RBI’s.

Pat – sorry your team didn’t make the playoffs, but congrats to them for their achievements! I have to admit I dropped baseball mostly in high school when my team was doing badly. :X Well and lack of time. More dropped them in college, I guess. Followed a bit in law school when we were in the playoffs but… well it’s not hard to follow Cleveland teams. You can just assume a loss and be right like 80% of the time. :X

I have to say that I don’t really get into any sports, which is really hard for people to understand here in Kentucky. Most of the state are UK fanatics but I could not care less, lol. The only time I tolerate a game is watching (actually ignoring) one with my nephew (just turned 11) or when one of my nephews plays (11, 6, 4) Seeing how they all love sports (even the 4 year old) I see alot of sports in my future. NOT excited about that, especially the chance one of them could get hurt.

      June,
Eeek, the threat of injury is a really scary one! Especially if your nephews continue on with the sports… I didn’t get into *football* until college… but now I can’t imagine life without it. In baseball it’s more the pitchers being hurt from strain… and the odd wild ball. Although the latter is more rare. Still quite dangerous though!
I’d make a joke about UK sports but that’d just be mean. And it’s not as if I can talk considering who my teams are. 😛

We watch football on weekend mornings due to the time change. Sad that hubby’s team – Purdue – lost. Sad that the Buckeyes lost – my cousins are ticket holders. Happy that AF beat Navy! Happy that Hawaii beat Louisiana Tech on pay per view! It’ll be rebroadcast on local stations Sunday morning to complete with the NFL games!

Kim – oops. :X I knew I knew the score somewhere… I’m sorry about the Purdue loss too since they’re in my conference. I’m glad AF beat Navy too! For a second I thought it was the Army vs Navy game and was like “wow that’s early this year.” I was also out of it.
Yay Hawaii beating a LA team! Oof the time difference. I don’t even want to calculate that for you. Although I guess it leaves your Sunday evenings free…

I’m an OSU alum so I feel obligated to watch the games, even if I’m only half watching and half reading. With Tressle gone, I admit I’m not as thrilled as I was last season. I’ll miss his sweater vests!

Liz – I’ve always had Tressel as our coach since I started following the team, so I’m a bit crushed. It’s obvious we’re hurting for him too. I can only hope Urban Meyer will be our head coach next year, but…. it’s going to be hard to get him if we continue to suck like that. I do feel bad for Luke Fickell but… he’s clearly not ready for the job yet. Even without our star players, he’s made some mistakes. I will say though I hate how fair-weather Buckeye fans can be. I know it’s common for stadiums to go silent, but it’s like Buckeye fans don’t know how to handle anything but being on top.
And I can’t believe people wanted Tressel to quit last year after two losses. Well, they got their wish. >:( [Yeah, yeah, the whole stupid scandal. Sigh. Bias aside, I do believe ESPN hates us though.]

Hi Jane, pro football is fun! I think it’s great and you can talk with people about it and bond and there’s the fun ribbing and trash talking. Not when people get too serious about it though. And the parties!
… Heh. Not that I do that often, but you know – there’s the potential.

I’m in an in-between mood sports-wise. The Red Sox just had one of the worst chokes in baseball history and Franconia is gone; the Patriots lost a sure-thing to Buffalo last week, but can hopefully come back today; the Bruins start soon; and Celtics – who knows if there will be a season. Boston – gotta love those sports teams, no matter what. Cloudy, drizzly day – great day for a cup of tea and a good book until the game.

Lynnette – hmm…. true the Boston area teams are sad. But at least in the past few years they’ve done incredibly well? Small comfort, but better than nothing?
And yay for reading. That’s the good thing about fall weather, a nice excuse to stay in and cuddle up with a blanket and good book. Enjoy!

Right now, here in Cheesehead land we are on a sports high…… the Brewers won their first (of many this year I hope) playoff games, the Badgers creamed the Cornhuskers yesterday, and the Packers are the undefeated returning Super Bowl champs. Add to that all the local HS teams, and the sound of bands and cheers have been almost non-stop all weekend as the trees are turning beautiful fall colors to cheer them on…… red for the Badgers, green and gold for the Pack! I hope everyone is having as much fun as we are!

Hi Mary! Yes, the announcers last night were talking about that! O_o Although I’d forgotten about the Packers. For some reason I’d thought they’d lost a game…
I was a bit surprised at how well… bad Nebraska was. Or is Wisconsin that good? I know they’re good. They beat us last year >:( although my team implodes a lot. I do feel sorry for Wisconsin even though the Badgers sometimes make me mad, because… they’re going to have to work really hard and need other schools to lose to have a shot. It’s not their fault on the conference schedule.
Although, them losing the… Rose Bowl, is it last year? Didn’t help their case. At least the Bucks won our bowl game :X Poor Big Ten.

I’d watch games with you! 😀 If only we could! Heh – my sister and I root for the same teams, so often we call and text each other during games but it’s not the same.

Unquestionably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
