Ask Me Anything! AKA Fun For Lime!

Hopefully fun for you too. I’ve been wanting to do this because it seems like a cop out post.. but it really isn’t! You know all those kooky author interviews I’ve had posted? Well I love those questions.

Also I feel like we have no idea who each of us is. So… today, you get to ask me any question you want. The kicker is though, that you have to answer it as well! Come on – what strange and silly things can you think of? I’m happy to give my opinion on say, sauerkraut to biscotti. Whatever. (I can’t think right now.)

Ready? Set? Go! [Oh and you see that tag? Yeah. Someone’s going to win something.]

Oh bless you for a soft ball, Mary! ;D Favorite color? It varies, really… but I like things in the blue family. Blue and purples best I think. And colors I like, differ from colors I like to wear, if that makes sense.

      Yay! Keep the questions coming!

      Jane,
Ohhh I’ve been into Henry Cavill since the Tudors… and possibly The Count of Monte Cristo and Tristan and Isolde. (I can’t believe James Franco was the hero over Henry. WTF, Hollywood?)
I also really like Michael Fassbender. He’s finally stopped dying in every film he’s in! That’s how you know he’s a star. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Oh and Matt Bomer. He’s crazy gorgeous. Sadly, gay. So… I can dream about somehow meeting Henry Cavill and him falling head over heels for me, right? ๐Ÿ˜›

June, I’m… well not embarrassed exactly, but I always say this a bit wryly- I’m a total pop princess. My musical tastes are eclectic, but in my car I listen to top 40 stations. I’m too fickle to have favorites although I get nostalgic about stuff.
I like Adele, and Adam Levine is strangely enough growing on me. I say the latter because Maroon 5 was SO overplayed. Also I had this bad experience in undergrad where some creepy old guy grabbed my butt at a concert – and we were right by a cop! Augh!
For some reason Third Eye Blind keeps popping in my head – I “rediscovered” a few of their songs recently. Made me all nostalgic.

If you could live anywhere, where would that be?

I would live in Pismo Beach, CA. To still be close to my family but be able to look out my kitchen window and see the ocean – now that’s my little bit of heaven.

Liz! Wow – what a question. And I love how you’re specific in your answer! You know… I’m not really sure. I love DC, and NYC, and Seattle. DC I don’t know neighborhoods well enough. I’m assuming money is no object, otherwise I’d have to be living somewhere in Maryland or Virginia. In NYC though… I wouldn’t have to actually live in Manhattan. I’d be perfectly happy in Long Island City. I got to stay at a super swank apartment.
For Seattle… it just seems nice. I’ve only been able to visit once. Also, I love the water – never thought about it, but I guess I chose cities close to it. Although I grew up closer to the great lakes, and fresh water is best, imho. Or not so humble opinion. ๐Ÿ˜›
One thing I do know – and it’s a bit odd, if/when I ever get a house, I want it to face south.

      Laurie,

Oh gosh. You know, I started reading historicals only. And… then I read only based on the not too clinch covers. I was embarrassed to check them out. The you know, supposed brain snob in me. I’d say Lisa Kleypas though. She’s still one of my favorite authors. Although one of the first books by her I remember reading is Stranger In My Arms and to be honest that’s like one of my least favorite by her. I’m so glad I continued reading her books though!
As for favorite reading genre… well romance of course, but sub-genre… I go with historical, contemporary, and I guess paranormal and erotic romance as my first choices. I don’t know if my tastes have changed over time – I’ve always been a rather picky reader and demand as close to perfection for the story as possible. I’ve also always read categories, so it was a lot of hit or miss.
As for morning or evening… I’m practically a vampire. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pat, now that is tough. A book that I’ll never forget? There are bits and pieces of stories that stay with me always… maybe Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas? A favorite. And… here’s a kicker. Yours Until Dawn by Teresa Medeiros. I love it – and/but there’s this twist I almost always forget about until I get to it and I’m like OMG HOW COULD I FORGET THAT? But it’s because she tells the story so perfectly. Love it!
Although another favorite is Shocking the Senator by Leanne Banks. I tear up each and every time.

Here is where I might have to hide from the pitchforks and angry mob. I… don’t auto-buy an author anymore. I just don’t. I’m too picky and there are too many hits or misses for me. Although there are authors that I buy most of their books – or eventually catch up on. I’d say… SEP yes. Leanne Banks. Sarah Mayberry, Lauren Dane, and Erin McCarthy. But if it’s a sub-genre totally not in my interest, I just won’t get it. I might get it from the library, or have it on a “buy later” list.

What’s the most complicated word you’ve successfully said while drunk? Mine so far are antiestablishmentarianism and unconscionable. I don’t drink much though so not much room for study.

My other questions are too nosey and I feel it’s impolite to ask. So enjoy the funny questions!

Most of the time, I like to cook. It’s the cleanup afterwards I could do without! I don’t really have a favorite dish to make, it’s really whatever most of the household will eat, like spaghetti or lasagna.

Tricia, I LOVE to cook! Love love love it. I consider myself something of a foodie. I’m with you though – hate the clean up. Loathe it. My ideal pairing is hanging out with someone who is willing to clean for a good home cooked meal.
I don’t have a favorite dish to make either – it always depends on my mood. But I usually go to Italian, Chinese, or American food. I don’t know why. Greek, Mexican, Japanese etc, don’t really feature that heavily in my repertoire. I’d love to make curries – Thai or Indian, but don’t really cook it at home because the smells linger. Love how it tastes, don’t like smelling of it.

Favorite food dish in the following cuisines?

Thai: I love Pad Sea-Ew, Tom Kha, and Panang Curry.

Chinese: I love beef & broccoli and hot & sour soup.

Tex-Mex: I could eat chips & salsa alone, but chicken enchiladas are always a favorite.

Southern: Chicken fried steak with lots of white (brown if that’s all there is) gravy

Indian: samosas and beef vindaloo, followed by kheer badami for dessert

    Darn it. Now I’m hungry.

      Hi Eva!

Let’s see – with Thai? CURRY CURRY CURRY! I’m such a curry monster. ๐Ÿ˜€ I love yellow curry – but really it’s usually because it comes with potatoes and bamboo. And green curry – but it’s a bit spicy for me. Don’t love red curry as much. Do love eggplant in it.

For Chinese… I love hot and sour soup as well. And the way they make the baby clams with black bean sauce. Cantonese black bean sauce is so delicious. I also love spring rolls. The *actual* ones with the crispy thin fried skin. None of this egg roll thing, or the Vietnamese rice paper spring rolls.

Tex-Mex- burritos! That counts right? Or carnitas… nom

Southern food – will you believe it that I have never had chicken fried steak before? I do love soul food though. Although the last time I had it, it was at a vegan place in DC. No, I’m just as horrified as you are. OH! Barbecue! Salt Lick! *drools*… oh yum.

Indian … CURRY! I like lamb or goat curry. Lentils too. I just… really love curry. It’s sad how I can’t take spicy things. Oh and naan. Mmmm naan. I’ve never had many Indian desserts. Not much appeals – or I’ve only had bad ones, and rarely have room for it anyway. I do love lassi’s though. The sweet ones.

I’m hungry now too. Thanks a lot, not! ๐Ÿ˜›

Karen, eek! Impossible question! I always hate when people say “I don’t know” but… in my case I don’t know that I have one. It changes a lot, and see – I would have said Gone with the Wind. But I recently ish-re-watched it, and found it rather lacking. I was so sad. Then, I’d say The Sound of Music… but I’ve never been able to love it as much after I learned Christopher Plummer called it the “Sound of Mucus” – although he did regret saying that later, I believe… well, like, 30 years later… ๐Ÿ˜›
One that really threw me was Inception. I avoided it for-ever because I just do *not* like Leonardo DiCaprio – but I thought it was a fantastic film. Ummm… favorite movie. Gosh. I watch so few, as well, so it’s hard to say.
Can I do a trilogy? Although the third isn’t out yet and I’m nervous… I love Christian Bale as Batman. So, those – with Christopher Nolan. He’s great.

Oh, Mary… wow… now that I saw your answer I can’t really get it out of my head. My first thought was something like money – robbing the treasury? Fort Knox? I’m sure all the gold is numbered etc… but then if I’d never get caught I’d have some way to sell it right as part of the crime?
My second immediate thought though, was robbing a museum. Then I could have amazingly lovely pieces, and sell some – the whole not getting caught/punished thing again… thus getting lots of money.
Or, okay. I did think murder first, but there’s nobody I really want to kill and… well money is much more useful.
I think I’d have to think about this more though – because… I’m not sure – lotteries are what, 125 m? Maybe I’d really want to knock off/run wild at say, Sotheby’s. Then I could auction it off again. So…. more a cyber crime? I could change everything so that I was the owner. And get myself some sweet foreign bank accounts the government couldn’t touch.

Lynn, for me this changes based on my mood. I like historicals, contemporaries, and paranormals equally. Although recently I’ve been reading more contemporaries – all those category romances… and actually some fantasy types – that are also erotic. Does erotic romance need to be split into a different category? I sometimes do, sometimes don’t separate it.

I prefer electronic books, but only because it’s faster to download a book then get in the car and go to the library.

I don’t read historicals as a rule. But I will read a highland tale or an old west romance from time to time. As long as the time period details don’t get too much in the way of the romance, I’m on board. Like everything else I read, if the description intrigues me, then I’ll get it…regardless of the time period, concept, or sub-genre.
