Football and Winner(s)

Well, my team won today. Which, you know, makes them winners. They’re still the Sadeyes because, well it’s been a tough year, but I’m really proud of how they’re pulling through. I’m currently watching Alabama playing LSU, and I have to say I’m rooting for an upset. I can’t help it – I always do, unless my team is ranked higher. Do you generally go for the underdog? Am I just a freak? :X

Today has been nutters, so I used randomizer.org to pick a winner for Shiloh Walker and Mary G’s post. Stay tuned, because we hope to do something similar for If You See Her! (Yay Hope and Remy! *bounce bounce*) Anyway, the winner is aeternum_a – you have until Tuesday to email me to claim your prize. Shiloh did tell me she’s swamped though, so it might take a while for her to get back to you.

Next week of course we’ve got Teaser Tuesday, but no other currently scheduled guests, so I’m thinking a review, maybe, and recipes? I’ve been all about roasted vegetables. And frozen drinks. They’re not related, thankfully. For all that we all have a seriously developed sweet tooth in my family, we rarely have desserts.

Do you guys make desserts from scratch? Have a favorite? I also really want to try my hand at making cake balls again, but they’re too sweet for me, once coated with chocolate. Gah.

So how’s everyone’s weekend going?

      Mary,

Oh nice! I bet they were chewy, right? My favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe is Jeffrey Steingarten’s. It’s incredible. I want to do a “head to head” comparison between his and Amanda Hesser’s one day though. 😀

So, were you pulling for LSU? We were the underdog according to the odds. Alabama was a five point favorite. Well, glad you had a good football weekend. I know I did!

Re cooking–When I make desserts, they are usually from scratch.

*pleads the fifth* 😉 I’m happy you guys won though – heh I admittedly wasn’t that invested in the game, other than it being a good one. Which it was! Overtime! And I knew Alabama had lost as soon as it went to OT.
I think it’d be neat if they meet again and have a re-match for the championship game.
Do you think LSU will go all the way? (Lol objectively, not fan-wise. If that even works or makes sense.)

Oh duh also – me too, but what’s your favorite/”best” dessert?

I do think LSU will go all the way, barring crazy stuff happening (injuries, etc.) So many of the early games were on the road, but the three remaining scheduled games are all in Baton Rouge. One of those–against #8 Arkansas–will be very tough. Having it at home will be a big boost.

I don’t think the BCS will offer up a rematch of two teams from the same conference. I know you remember a few years back when the possibility of an Ohio State-Michigan rematch was passed over.

Favorite dessert? During the fall, my favorite is a recipe from Southern Living called Kentucky Derby Pie. It’s a pecan pie with chocolate chips and bourbon. Served warm, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, it is divine!

I generally do root for the underdog, in any/every sport. NCAA football exceptions being Notre Dame, Ohio State and/or USC (CA).

:-O *jaw drop* WHAT?! T_T Why don’t you like the Buckeyes, Kelly? Are you a… :X M*ch*g*an fan?!
Although I’m 100% with you on ND and USC at least. 😛

I haven’t made desserts from scratch in awhile, but my favorite is chocolate chip cookies. Just the Nestle recipe is all I’ve tried, but they’re so good. Except that my husband likes them crunchy & I prefer soft & gooey! Oh, I have a friend that makes the best cake balls, but she decorates cakes & desserts, so it’s not surprising! I’m hoping she’s going to make me some for Christmas again!

Hope everyone is having a great week!
