Happy [Belated] Independence Day! From Shelli Stevens

Happy Fourth of July! Oh wait, it’s a day late, but I hope yours was as fabulous as mine was.

There’s something about summer that’s just so awesome. At least for us folks in the Pacific Northwest. See, we don’t get a heck of a lot of sun, but summer tends to give us a bit of a break from the grey and rain. For me, I’m happier, feel healthier, have more energy. I’m a summer/sun baby (don’t even get me started on wanting to move to California for the heat!). That love transfers over to my writing and I really enjoy setting books the summer months. Or beach type locales. I mean just check out this gorgeous view from Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. That can completely inspire a romance novel in my head!

What’s your favorite thing about summer? The sun (or maybe it’s too hot where you are!) The food? The kids being out of school? Leave a comment and we’ll draw a winner for a signed print copy of my book Seducing Allie!

I love about summer is it being hot, but this year it has been to warm and no rain so everything is turning brown. I also enjoy going to the lake with my friends during the summer..

I am seriously not a summer person but living in las Vegas we get sudden down pours flash floods. It doesn’t usually last long but the amount of rain coming down is usually pretty awesome for those few minutes and it’s pretty wild. Besides the end of summer and the nearing cooler temps..I like flash floods..But I’m strange..lol

I’m presently in New England, so the winters are cold, snowy, and dark. I love summer for the insane amount of light (the sun’s up by 5:00 and doesn’t set until ~21:00, as opposed to it only being light out from 8:30-16:30!). And the fact that the water is warm(ish) enough for me to scuba dive in a wetsuit 🙂

Favorite part of summer are the foods – BBQs, corn on the cob, watermelon, salads – and the smells – BBQs, ocean, sand, sunscreen, etc.

I am not a summer person – I don’t do well in heat and humidity, and it seems if I even look at the sun I sunburn! But, I am a teacher, so that makes the summer good. And I must admit, I love the summer veggies and fruits.

I do enjoy the summer although the temps are a little high for me right now but one of my favorite things is that my husband grills and smokes a lot of our meals.
