A Little About Me, A Little About You

I’ve done something similar a few times – and I had another post in mind but I just ran out of time. (Also I’ve been fighting this cold for 2+ weeks. I feel human now, but am under the weather. I know – you’re thinking “WTF? This Lime chick is always sick!” And… it’s true. I have the immune system of a horse. A dead one.)

Anyway – the first time, I was trying to come up with Author Interview questions. (My favoritest one ever is still when Meljean Brook was here.)

And then when I first struck off on my own I had a “Getting To Know You” post.

So, here’s the deal. I’m going to tell you a few things about me, and you’ll have to do the same.

You can also ask me any of the questions in the “Author Interview” series. 🙂

I might even use some of the questions you ask in future interviews!

Oh and the catch you say? Any question you ask me, you have to answer first. 😉

Here’s my “about me” list.

1. I am pop culture deficient. If you’re talking about movies, chances are I haven’t seen it. In fact I think that collective wail you heard last week was when I announced on twitter I’d never seen Breakfast Club or Pretty in Pink. … >.> Nor Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So yeah, age might be related, but still.

2. I love football. Like really love. I get depressed when the season is ending and over. Anticipating football season, the sun is brighter, the air is sweeter, everything is awesome. Because there is football. Even though they’re kinda underwhelming this year, I love my Ohio State Buckeyes.

3. I can’t stand James Franco. Just typing that annoyed me. He’s obviously done nothing to me personally, but I think he’s a ginormous douchecanoe. Every interview, articles about him, his short stories that are too full of himself … ugh.

4. If I could have any superpower… well I can’t decide between shape-shifting, or teleportation.

5. I hate horror movies, but love psychological thrillers. Sadly the two are often blended, so I end up watching a movie I perhaps shouldn’t and freaking myself out. Also I think it’s instilled a healthy fear of children in me. I mean, look at this list. (Which was a lot creepier the first time I heard it because a radio DJ was reading it with creepy voices and dramatic pauses.)

Ok – now it’s your turn!

JenB – sounds interesting. I love movies based on actual events, but … I read the wiki and it seems so depressing. Also considering how much I dislike Franco I don’t know that I can stand even looking at his face that long. :X (Although if he acts not like himself…)
Still – just seeing him on the Mindy Project previews annoy me, especially with him scrunching his face and ugh I just want to cut it off. >.>

You should give it a shot. I still love Flyboys, even after watching Pineapple Express and Your Highness. It’s really not depressing either. It doesn’t have a traditional HEA, but it’s way more hopeful than most other war movies. It’s a very cool film.

LOL Awesome Lime! That list of children statements are hilarious! Have read it before but is always great to read it again.

    About me:
    1) I like to talk to myself. In my mind. Talking to others isn’t really my thing unless it’s something grand and interests me or is a question pointed at me. Otherwise I keep to myself. Though I do talk to them in my head; like thinking about questions to ask them but not asking them outwardly. And then pondering that thought for that whole moment.

    2) People who fall asleep quick are scary. Don’t they ever have thoughts before the snooze come on to them? I for one don’t fall asleep until everything is good a settled in my mind. (My talking to myself of course.) And sometimes that takes an hour to two hours, unless I’m super tired and sleep deprived.

    3) I’m a type A personality (and a bit of type B when I want to.) I get annoyed and irritated easily. Well, sometimes. Just don’t bother me or talk to me when I don’t want you to intrude in my space. It might sound mean but I’m just warning you. Though I won’t burst at you, (I know how to keep my mouth shut and tight) I will probably and most likely widen my eyes, roll it, inhale deeply, and nod my head.

    4) When people become super craze about a book or author: JK Rowling, 50 Shades, Twilight, Jame Franco, etc… I could care less. I haven’t even read any of their books or maybe even plan to ever. I have watched Harry Potter though but that’s it. It’s crazy and dumb and well, I’m mean. I can say that I’m very nasty in my judgment towards them. (50 Shades and Twilight, I’m talking about you.) I will never watch or read you. Well, maybe not never but now, No.

    5) I can be fun, easy going, and relaxed when I want to. This is the side most people see me in so maybe I have personality problems. I’ll smile and everything but in truth, sometimes I just smile in annoyance. I don’t like to speak my mind and cause trouble, so yup, that’s why I like to keep to myself. I don’t like to be rude in public but will talk about it in private. Not a backstabber here but sometimes people are just dang dumb in their actions and words. So yeah, I’m nice, sweet, and all that good stuff but I have a nasty side too (doesn’t everyone.) Which I keep to myself and tried to tame but sometimes gets the best of me.

ki pha, I think we’re very similar 🙂 I always need a lot of “me” time as well before I sleep, so even if I come home at like 3 AM, I’ll still take an hour to wind down and do my own stuff. Which… is not good because I need to be up early every day 😛 It makes conferences interesting, for sure. And has taught me I need to avoid early bird people as roommates if at all possible.

And definitely on #4 – I might even like something, but if it gets hyped out of control (IMO), I start to hate it. Overkill is a bitch.

    About me:

    1. I do NOT like to cook. I can cook because my family expect to be fed, but to me cooking is just such a waste of time. All that effort & mess for a result that just disappears before your eyes. I think that anyone who says they LOVE to cook is a big fat liar.

    2. I have a will of iron. Just ask my children.

    3. I love my children. If you want to contest the fact that the most dangerous creature in the wild is a Mother defending her young, try me out.

    4. I have zero tolerance for stupid people. If you want to jump off a mountain go for it, but if you kill yourself don’t come crying to me.

Hahahaha Mary, I do love to cook – but it depends on what I’m making. It has to be something I want to do. I will say I hate cleaning up. If I could just be a home chef for someone and never have to clean up that would be a dream job.
I also have zero tolerance for stupid people, but society says I have to be nice to them :\

I’m afraid I’m even more pop culture deficit than you. Who is James Franco?

I can’t watch anything scary, it gives me nightmares.

I have an inability to live in a place I don’t like. It makes me physically ill. My husband doesn’t like this as it has sometimes caused geographical separations.

I have trouble making small talk.

I love to cook, but not for myself.

Even if the another person is irritating, I do not understand why people can’t just be nice or at least pleasant to one another.

    Now for you:

    What is your favorite drink?

What would you least like to do for a living?

Where is your dream place to live?

Ella, frankly I think you’re lucky to not know who James Franco is, which is how much I dislike him. If you catch anything on FOX TV-wise, that guy in the previews for the Mindy Project. Grr. What are places that you don’t like to live? Specific locations or particular characteristics?

For my questions … you have to answer these too! So first, I turn them right back on you.
      1. Gosh! I don’t know rightly – if I would never gain any weight 😛 I’d say some sort of frozen rum concoction with lots of passion fruit and pineapple 😀 Otherwise … ummmm mango lassi? Passion fruit bubble tea? Smoothies? Coke with real lime? I actually love water too. (As you see I’m indecisive).

      2. I would least like to be a lawyer 😛 Oh wait. Actually, I don’t think I could be a garbage collector. Bad smells make me throw up.

      3. My dream place to live? Some place tropical. Preferably on an undiscovered gold or diamond mine, so I have money to travel, because I do love my four seasons. But I adore tropical fruit so much.

More characteristics. I abhor racism. Places where people are falling down drunk in the middle of the morning, where there a no good places to dine.

My favorite drink is a Vacqueyras. A red wine from Rhone area in France.

I agree that garbage collector would be high on my list as well.

I am living in my dream place, St. Thomas, USVI. I also love the South of France. What I really want is a sailboat. I have a few friends who live on them.

    1. I am both right and left brained. I have a created slant, as well as an analytical mind.

    2. Although my fridge, freezer, and pantry are well stocked, I despise going to the grocery store. It is the least favorite of my weekly errands. I only shop the outside aisles. Being a vegetarian eliminates the need of going up and down the processed foods aisles.

    3. When I taught school, I had to bite my tongue when a guidance counselor would explain a child’s horrible actions had come from a dysfunctional family. WE ARE ALL FROM DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES! It is how we handle the crisis that makes us strong. Assistance is one thing…excuses another.

    4. I am fascinated by “movement” – a thoroughbred upon a track, a dancer on stage, a cheetah in the undergrowth, an eagle in flight, etc.

    5. As does our hostess Limecello, I love football and hate horror movies. (Ohio State football is a religion is Columbus. I speak from experience. I lived in Columbus for 20+ years. Yet, I was never one to follow the “religious” precepts.) My “dislikes” for actors lean toward George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner, and Russell Crowe – adequate, but never quite live up to the hype.

    6. I am a lead, follow, or get out of my way type of person. I can be a team player, but when a leader is chosen, people generally turn to me for they know I am tenacious when a job must be completed well and in a timely manner. I have always had the voice of authority for kids and dogs; therefore, I spent 40 years in the public classrooms of three different states. That is somewhere between 75,000 – 100,000 students, counting those I encountered in clubs I sponsored and teams I coached. Mind boggling!!!

      Regina – O-H!!! ;D
I like George Clooney but I don’t think I’m gaga over him. I really like the rapport he and Brad Pitt have in Ocean’s Eleven, etc. I agree with you on number 3 to a degree, but I think it depends on the family. For a regular suburb, definitely with you. For inner city… honestly some of those kids had no hope from the start. Which of course, doesn’t make what they do ok but it does explain it. It’s just hard to know how to react to it and deal with it.

    1) I adore my four kids even though they can drive me crazy at times.
    2) I loathe cleaning and wish i could afford a maid. Seems like dusting and sweeping need to be done right after you finish.
    3) Not crazy about football but will pay attention to the Sooners and Cowboys despjte the idiot owner.
    4) Love crime shows in between my reading addiction. My 13 year old has seen Breakfast Club and Ferris.
    5) I can also agree I have little patience for stupid but learned to control my mouth.

Wendy, did you 13 year old watch those movies with you? I hate cleaning too, although I like organizing. I think those two are different, and if the mess is too big I just get overwhelmed.
I don’t care for police procedurals and have never watched NCIS or CSI … but I’ve become addicted to the Investigation Discovery channel :X

    Aloha, Lime!

    1. I enjoyed Ferris Bueller and 16 Candles (Molly Ringwald’s best movie) – great references to the 80s along with Adam Sandler’s THE WEDDING SINGER. According to my teens, I am pop culture deficient because I am stuck in the 80s. Love hair bands from the 80s.

    2. I adore Buckeyes … the candy. I appreciate the long tradition of football at The Ohio State University – my uncle is a grad of the law school and has season tickets.

    3. Don’t know much about James Franco. I do recall his terrible performance as the cohost of the Oscars with Ann Hathaway. Of course I adore the cast of HAWAII FIVE O.

    4. If i could have a superpower, it would be the ability to bring peace. I’m so tired of the hurt around the world.

    5. I don’t like scary movies, psychological thrillers, or alien movies in general, but I enjoyed DEAD AGAIN with Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson. I loved BATTLESHIP because it was filmed in Hawaii and featured the Mighty Mo.

    6. I miss Hawaii … but taking advantage of the opportunities in the DC area.
