On Sportsball/Social Media for Social Good, and Latinx Heritage Month

Hi friends! If you’re a longtime reader you might maybe have thought “hey I wonder what’s up with SMSG this year?” Well … it’s like this – if The Ohio State University Buckeyes break 70 points and win their game, I’ll donate $10 to a non-profit charity. (This seemed like something that might happen a few times at the beginning of the season … but so far it’s only happened once. Fingers crossed they do more.)

ANYWAY. I kept meaning to throw this post up, but life and such and ALBTALBS is clearly on a bit of a hiatus, and the only “good kid” of the crowd is Babs – who is the hero of the site. (I’m definitely in the “bad child” camp myself :X)

You may know that Latinx Heritage month is almost over. It runs from September 15-October 15. I asked on Twitter and Facebook about people doing posts for Latinx Heritage month, but got no takers, and like all the other Smithsonian Heritage Months this year, I’m not killing myself over it. Do I always hope people will participate? Of course. But I’m not going to force it. I also don’t want to officially end the “celebrations” of such – because it feels too much not just like giving up but defeat, so I’ll always welcome any and all Heritage + Pride Month posts. One year I might get it together again and make for a push of scheduling three a week … but 2019 obviously isn’t it. My apologies.

(Perhaps I might need to do another explanation of it …)
Also with such little feedback it’s difficult. I know blogs are “dying” but … still. Also if there are responses to posts they tend to happen on other social media platforms, which of course any and all feedback is appreciated, but it does make it hard to keep track.

Cycling back, this is the Buckeye schedule. They’ve done the 70 points once already, and since nobody had recommendations, as I didn’t have a post up, I’m donating to the SPLC. How does the rest of SMSG work? Well, if you ever notice the Buckeyes win their game and have 70+ points, come comment on the blog, and tell me your favorite non-profit charity. I’ll donate $10 to the first one who comments per game. I know, it’s not much, but it’s been a rough year … and I do actually still have the GoFundMe asking for help for me and my continuous medical expenses. Or if you’d like to support the site, I have a ko-fi as well… So yeah. 😛

Too exhausted to create a cute graphic or update an old one. So many health issues for me going on … and a number of us have life kicking our asses, so my apologies for not being more present here. Thanks for sticking with us. <3 It’s truly appreciated.

    Ok so I said

… Which sadly didn’t happen, but at this point I’m just glad we won and it wasn’t too terribly close, especially since we fumbled it at least 3 times. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ … My chest still aches from the anxiety. 😣

:X I have screenshots from my donations from a year ago – but I was too lazy to try to figure out where to host them and post them – but to keep me honest at least, I do want to note I made donations to No Kid Hungry, the SPLC, and WCK (World Central Kitchen).
