Guest Author & A Giveaway: Kaylea Cross

Hello my lovelies! I’m going through some growing pains, but trying to truck along, so as you see, we have Kaylea Cross as the GA&AG author for October. (And ACK how is it already October?!)

Lethal Pursuit by Kaylea Cross

The latest book in my Bagram Special Ops series is out now, and I’m so excited about this third installment! I wanted to write a series of books that feature both men and women currently serving in Afghanistan, and Lethal Pursuit is the most pulse-pounding of all.

The heroine in this story, Lt. Maya Lopez, is badass, plain and simple. She’s Air Force Security Forces, and damn good at what she does. Due to the difficult past that shaped her she doesn’t trust or let people in easily, but what happens in the book forces her to dig deep and confront her inner demons, while bonding with the hero under the most horrific circumstances as prisoners of war. The result is emotionally wrenching, and makes their fight for a chance at happily-ever-after so satisfying. I love how strong Maya is, and how Jackon, the delicious Pararescueman hero, has to learn how to let her fight her own battles. *sigh*

Security Forces Lieutenant Maya Lopez is right at home in a war zone: she’s been fighting all her life. A hard-won commission in the air force has brought her to Afghanistan, and if she plays her cards right, she could end up with an FBI job. It won’t be easy, but that just makes her more determined.

Jackson Thatcher is a protector in all senses of the word. A pararescue jumper with Southern-boy charm, he easily captures Maya’s interest, but her trust is another story. He’s sexy, strong and caring, but she makes it clear she’s no damsel in distress. She’s never relied on any man, and she’s not about to start now.

When Maya and Jackson become pawns in a radical warlord’s deadly game, they find themselves on the run and must depend on each other if they want to make it out alive.

“I can’t wait to be inside you,” he said in a low voice. “Show me where your room is.”

The words made her breath catch. Gathering her rattled composure, she got off the bike, her legs surprisingly shaky. Up at her room, she unlocked the door and stepped inside. He followed, sliding past her as she closed the door and turned the dead bolt. She reached for the sliding chain with unsteady hands, dropping it twice with a metallic rattle against the door before she finally got it in place. Jesus, she’d never been more turned on in her life, yet it felt like she was on the verge of another panic attack.

She sensed him approach from behind, then the heat of him licked along her spine. She had only a second to tense before his hand closed over hers where the chain attached to the door. His long fingers wrapped around hers, trapping them against the wood. He pressed his chest against her back, the hard ridge of his erection nudging the top of her buttocks. She drew in a startled breath when he bent to nuzzle the delicate spot where her neck met her shoulder, sending a cascade of shivers through her. His warm breath brushed over her bare skin in an intimate caress, and her knees wobbled.

“Just turn around and give yourself to me,” he murmured against the top of her shoulder. “That’s all you need to do.”
